A popular choice for many furniture makers and designers, melamine offers a unique finish that makes great edge banding. Melamine itself is a form of specialist resin-saturated paper that has been lacquered to create a strong and resilient finish that’s highly resistant to knocks, scratches, and other damage.

How To Apply Melamine Edging

Melamine Edge Banding is frequently coated on the back using a special hot melt adhesive that makes application incredibly easy. You can apply melamine edging with an edgebander machine, but it’s just as easily applied with a household iron! The heat from either the edgebander or the iron melts the glue on the banding to create a strong bond between the board and the edging.

For those working with a gluepot edgebander you can also obtain unglued melamine edging.

For A Versatile Finish

Melamine is highly versatile and edge banding can be used with a wide range of boards including Chipboard, MDF, and Plywood. You can obtain melamine in a huge variety of colours, as well as take advantage of our colour match service to get the exact right shade. Melamine also lends itself to a lot of different textural finishes, including gloss, matt, and many different wood effects like Walnut, Oak, and Beech. It gives a uniform grain effect

Melamine Edging Uses

Thanks to the high durability and low cost of melamine edge banding it’s widely used to manufacture furniture for living rooms and bedrooms, as well as kitchen furniture such as cabinets, worktops, cupboards, shelving, and wardrobes.
